Background: Immune dysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked syndrome (IPEX) is caused by mutations in the Forkhead/winged helix transcription factor (FOXP3) gene and is a rare disorder that increasingly has gained attention as a model of genetic autoimmunity.
